As the U.S. Reaches the Two-Year Mark of the Pandemic, Caregiver Burnout is Still as Prevalent as Ever

Abstract

COVID-19 continues to take its toll on the health and safety of people throughout the world as the United States marks two years since the virus entered the country, proliferating quickly in the spring of 2020. While great strides have been made in terms of research, vaccines and medical care, there continue to be a significant number of hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19. This continuation of hospitalizations and accompanying treatment needs have caused a massive increase in the need for healthcare professionals. The demands on health caregivers, especially nurses, have continued to cause burnout.
